Big Bear is a wonderful 4-season alpine resort and there are so many ways to enjoy the splendor of this special mountain oasis. Since it is now officially summer, we will focus on the things to do in Big Bear on the lake!

1. See the spectacular 4th of July Fireworks Show!
Hosted by the Big Bear Rotary Club, The 4th Of July Fireworks Celebration in Big Bear is one of the biggest and best shows in Southern California. The fireworks are shot from a barge off of Pine Knot Landing and views from on and around the lake are stunning. The show starts after sundown, between 8:45 and 9:15 pm.
2. Experience the serenity of Big Bear Lake on a kayak
Rent a kayak and explore the many bays in Big Bear Lake by your own paddle power. Kayaks can be rented at the following locations: Big Bear Marina, Pine Knot Marina, Captain John’s Marina, Holloway’s Marina, Pleasure Point Marina, and Paddles & Pedals.
3. Relax in the sun on a pontoon boat
Lounging on a pontoon boat is one of the best ways to “chill” on Big Bear Lake. Check out the aforementioned marinas for availability and rental rates.
4. Learn about Big Bear Lake from aboard the Miss Liberty
Board the one-of-a-kind tour boat out of Pine Knot Marina for a fully narrated 90 minute guided tour featuring highlights of Big Bear’s rich history dating back to 1845. Hear fun facts, folklore, celebrity sightings, and much more.
5. Enter into a fishing competition
Love to fish? Check out these fishing tournaments out of Big Bear Marina: Jim Hall Memorial May Trout Classic, Fishin’ For $50K Trout Derby, Carp Round-Up Bowfishing, and Troutfest.
6. Satisfy your need for speed in a speed boat
Don’t feel like lounging? Rent a speed boat from one of the local marinas and experience the thrill of the wind in your hair as you zoom around the lake!
7. Test your skills at waterskiing or wake boarding
Licensed operators and instructors provide quality service for waterskiing, wake boarding, wake skating, knee boring and more at these marinas: Holloway’s, Designated Wakesports, North Shore Landing, and Big Bear Marina.
8. Learn to stand up on a paddle board
Paddle boarding is growing in popularity and is a fun way to get out on the lake and get some good exercise, too. Rent a paddle board at Big Bear Marina, Pine Knot Marina, Captain John’s, and Pleasure Point.
